Please Just Stop

Upon seeing the boldness of the Apostles in preaching the name of Jesus, the leaders instructed them to stop because more and more people were coming to know the name of Jesus — the exact opposite of what they had hoped for when Jesus died on the cross. The more they said please just stop, the more the Apostles preached; not because they were defiant but because they were obedient, obedient to God and unwavering in their love and commitment to their Lord, Jesus. As Christians, yes, we are asked to be docile and obedient to authority, but not if it contradicts the Truth, the law of God.

He Comes to Us

After Jesus suffered His Passion and rose from the dead, Peter tells the disciples that he will be going fishing. In some ways Peter is going back to his old life, life before Jesus. It is at this time and place that Jesus chooses to appear to Peter, to remind him of when He first called him and chose him, and to encourage him in his vocation — to catch not fish, but rather, people.
